Phi-psi angle

The phi- and psi-angle discribes the torsion angles between the backbone atoms in a protein.

The following figure shows the location of the torsion angles in a peptide. Because the third angle (the omega angle) in proteins is very rigid, the phi and psi-angle define the structure of a protein's backbone.
